Do cats smile?

Cats do smile, but not in the same way that humans do. When a cat smiles, it will often narrow its eyes and blink slowly. This is a sign of contentment and trust. Cats may also smile when they are happy to see you, or when they are enjoying a grooming session.

Here are some other ways that cats show their happiness:

  • Purring
  • Kneading
  • Head-butting
  • Wagging their tail
  • Meowing
  • Crouching low to the ground
  • Licking you

If you see your cat doing any of these things, it's a good sign that they are happy and content.
